Saintfield Sponsors launch night

Sponsoring is an amazing opportunity to help give a child a better life. I sponsor a child through Stand By Me, a charity which rescues children in crisis in eleven of the world’s poorest countries. This is a charity which is very close to my heart. I have been out on two Teacher Training teams to Bekoji in Ethiopia and have met my sponsor child Tadelu and many other children like her. I am passionate about helping these children so I recently made an appeal in church for new sponsors. I was so pleased to have five new people have sponsor children in Dembi Dollo, the village in Ethiopia, I am visiting at the end of July.

By sponsoring with Stand By Me we are providing for the needs of our individual children. They receive breakfast and lunch daily and a chance to have an education as well as staff who are determined to provide the best possible care for them.

One of the things I enjoy most (aside from actually meeting her) are all of the letters and photos I receive from Tadelu. The more I write, the more response I get back. Because of this I decided to start a Stand By Me sponsors club for people in our church family and around are area who sponsor children through this life changing charity.

Last week we had our first meeting, it was an enjoyable, informative evening where we came together for a common cause. We watched videos telling the stories of children living in Dembi Dollo, drew pictures, wrote letters and took pictures in the photo booth to post to our children.

This was a great night, being able to share my passion for Stand By Me with likeminded people where they could discover more about their role as a sponsor over tea, coffee and tray bakes. I was so pleased with the response of people from our church and I hope to make the Saintfield Sponsors club a regular thing. I also hope it will grow and more people will want to get involved sponsoring children through Stand By Me. If you are interested and would like to find out some more information then please send me an email on abbikmason@gmail.com I would love to speak to you about it.
